Trump Had It Right The Whole Time

When Donald Trump was in office, he wanted to ban TikTok. Democrats literally laughed at him, as did the mainstream media. This week, a federal ban on TikTok being installed on federal devices was added to the big omnibus spending bill.

Ban It

Since Trump left office, more and more of the information regarding ownership behind TikTok has been made public.

There are now concerns on both sides of the aisle regarding the ability of the Chinese to get user information from the owners of TikTok.

Will this put TikTok out of business?

Absolutely not, but it could hurt the company with advertising revenue.

After all, how much confidence can advertisers have in an outlet that the government has banned from devices?

Eunice Shin, a partner at brand strategist Prophet, stated, “That is what TikTok is at massive risk for: of having that brand reputational (blow) impact the overall revenue monetization that they can make.”

TikTok also released a statement on the ban, adding that it was “disappointed that Congress has moved to ban TikTok on government devices – a political gesture that will do nothing to advance national security interests – rather than encouraging the Administration to conclude its national security review.”

Just one more thing that Trump was right about… shocking.
