Joy Behar Slapped Down By Ohio Woman Living Near Derailment Site: ‘Not The Time To Play Politics’

Daily Report USA

Joy Behar was slapped down by Ashley Bennett, a Pennsylvania resident living just miles from the toxic train derailment site, who basically told “The View” co-host to knock off the partisan politics and have a little respect for those who are affected by the tragedy.

Behar viciously blamed the residents of East Palestine for the catastrophe because a majority of them voted for former President Trump.

Bennett noted that Trump is often the target of vitriolic liberal criticism, but pointed out that the incident is not political.

“It’s not time to play politics,” she commented Friday on “Fox & Friends.”

Trump visited the site of the derailment in East Palestine on Wednesday to speak with residents and give them some hope. He had water, food, and cleaning supplies delivered to those in need of them.

Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg arrived on Thursday, a full 20 days after the derailment took place, and proceeded to blame Trump as well.

Behar did not blame President Biden’s or Buttigieg’s slow response to the derailment on Feb. 3. She blamed Trump and the residents themselves for it, engendering intense backlash and a general consensus of hatred toward “The View” host.

“I don’t know why they would ever vote for him, because is somebody who, by the way, he placed someone with deep ties to the chemical industry in charge of the EPA’s chemical safety office. That’s who you voted for in that district: Donald Trump, who reduces all safety,” Behar told her shocked audience. They audibly gasped at her comments.

Bennett took offense to that remark as many others did. She told “Fox & Friends” host Ainsley Earhardt that the problem is nowhere near over. Many residents still can’t go back to their homes despite what the EPA claims. They don’t consider the water safe at all.

“These people are real American people. They have names. Their children have names. Their pets have names,” she declared. “I think that we need to set politics aside, and we really need to get the help in here for the people that need it.”

Earhardt was incensed over Behar’s heartless comments and called them inappropriate. She was joined in the sentiment by former “View” host Meghan McCain who tweeted that Behar’s venomous utterance was “evil.”

“The people of east Palestine are currently in fear that they and their children will be getting cancer or worse from the derailment toxins in their land and water. This is just an evil thing to say. I would say I can’t fathom this level of cruelty and elitism but sadly… I can,” McCain tweeted.

Others were also disgusted by Behar’s insensitive comments.

Veteran and former congressional nominee Jeffery A. Dove Jr. tweeted, “This is just sickening…”

“This person has long overstayed her welcome. @JoyVBehar you are a disgrace. And so is @TheView for allowing you to stay in that chair,” Fox News senior meteorologist Janice Dean commented.

“Fox & Friends First” co-host Ashley Strohmier sharply criticized Behar as well, branding her comments as “past insensitive.” She also slammed Buttigieg for apparently losing his train of thought when addressing the derailment, alluding to it being a slap in the face to residents there.

“How are they allowing this to happen?” she wondered aloud on Friday. “I don’t know how long they’re going to keep letting her get away with insensitive comments.”

“It just goes to show that she thinks that she is just better than everyone else, especially people in the heartland, in the middle of America,” Strohmier added.

Co-host Todd Piro noted, “This is what the left thinks of you, America. Joy Behar putting it in a nice, succinct phrase.”
