Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell Hospitalized After Incident at Dinner

Daily Report USA

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) was rushed to the hospital on Wednesday evening after falling during a dinner.

“This evening, Leader McConnell tripped at a local hotel during a private dinner,” a spokesperson for McConnell said. “He has been admitted to the hospital where he is receiving treatment.”

No other information was provided. The 81-year-old senator is a polio survivor and has, at times, had issues with balance and sometimes needs to use rails to assist him in walking.

In 2019, McConnell suffered a fractured shoulder after he tripped and fell at his home in Kentucky.

McConnell’s hospitalization comes as Sens. John Fetterman (D-PA) and Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) have both been hospitalized in recent weeks.

Feinstein was hospitalized last week in San Francisco after being diagnosed with shingles, she said in a statement. She reportedly is now back at her home recovering.

Fetterman checked himself into a mental health hospital on the night of February 15 at the recommendation of the attending physician of the United States Congress after experiencing symptoms of severe depression. NBC News reported that Fetterman was expected to be hospitalized for weeks.
