Host of the memorable Jerry Springer Show, the content of that program was a perfect fit for WWE in the Attitude Era, and even after the company had moved on from that phase, Springer was still used by WWE at times. His program launched into the mainstream after airing in 1991 and the former mayor of Cincinnati, Ohio, became synonymous with promoting the type of storylines often only seen in the wrestling industry. He had many wrestlers make appearances on his show and WWE hired Springer on a number of occasions to cross-promote to a similar audience.

Jerry Springer’s Show Would Never Fly Today In WWE

There was a time that the type of content Springer promoted on his show was the same kind of content WWE would promote in the late 90s and early 2000s. Today, that content would never fly, especially in light of the recent lawsuits being filed against WWE for discrimination and prejudice. That being said, there was a huge audience that played right into that type of content in those years and WWE knew fans would watch.

Springer knew what would appeal to fans and he gave them what they wanted. To that end, his partnership with WWE made perfect sense
