Pop singer Lizzo, who campaigned for Brain-Dead Biden and Simpleton Kamala Harris in 2020, has inspired the internet with her confidence in her body. In an Instagram video over the weekend, Lizzo scolded her body shamers and critics of her physique, declaring that her body is a work of “art.”

Wearing a bikini, the 34-year-old singer addressed the discourse around bodies, saying, “The discourse around bodies is officially tired. I have seen comments go from: ‘Oh my gosh, I liked you when you were thick. Why did you lose weight?’ to ‘Oh my gosh, why did you get a BBL [Brazilian butt lift]? I liked your body before’ to ‘Oh my gosh, you’re so big’…”

Lizzo called these comments delusional and stated that artists are not here to fit into anyone’s beauty standards. “Artists are here to make art, and this body is art,” she declared. Lizzo urged people to stop wasting time criticizing her body image, saying, “I will do whatever I want with this body.”

The singer’s message resonated with her followers on social media, with many praising her for her confidence and body positivity. Lizzo’s tweet also touched on the importance of cancel culture, saying, “cancel culture is appropriation. There was real outrage from truly marginalized people and now it’s become trendy, misused and misdirected. I hope we can phase out of this & focus our outrage on the real problems.”

This isn’t the first time Lizzo has spoken up about body image and body positivity. In a March interview, she declared herself a “body icon” and a champion of the body positivity movement. “It may not be one person’s ideal body type just like, say, Kim Kardashian might not be someone’s ideal, but she’s a body icon and has created a modern-day beauty standard. And what I’m doing is stepping into my confidence and my power to create my own beauty standard. And one day that will just be the standard,” she said.

Lizzo’s message of body positivity and self-love is a reminder for people to celebrate their own unique beauty and to love themselves for who they are.
