LSU is careening toward one of its most highly anticipated football seasons in years, and fans now know exactly when it will begin. LSU will face off against Florida State in the opener on Sunday, Sept. 3, with a 6:30 p.m. (Central) kickoff. The game will be aired on ABC and take place at Camping World Stadium in Orlando.
The game will complete the home and home series with Florida State, which began with the opener of the 2022 season at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans. That thriller was won by Florida State at the last moment, with the Tigers driving down for what appeared to be a game-tying touchdown at time expired, only to have the PAT blocked for a Seminoles victory.
Both teams have high expectations for the 2023 season, particularly LSU as it aims to build off a surprise SEC West title run in Year 1 of the Brian Kelly era. It’s likely both teams land in the top 10 when the initial rankings drop later this year.
