Authorities in Harriton asserted that Schobel had admitted to using comparable techniques for years. Officials from the Lower Merion School District told the parents of the two teenagers about the event on the day of the arrest. When Schobel was employed as a teacher at Harriton High School, the school district noted that he had no past convictions. If found guilty, he will be required to register as an offender and lose his teaching credentials.

Authorities started looking into the potential of a predator and found that the suspect had been corresponding with the girls using two different usernames. One was “jillmoreno” and the other was “sophiavan423.

Schobel may have interacted with the children while at work, according to school administrators, as one of the IP addresses identified by the police fits the institution. The Lower Merion School District stated in a formal statement that they were unaware of any improper interactions that Schobel may have had with Harriton High School pupils.
The statement said: Prior to the commencement of the 2021–2022 academic year, Mr. Schobel started working for the Lower Merion School District. He had no criminal history that would have prevented his employment. Schobel’s teaching duties have been halted while the investigation is ongoing.
