Balasore Train Accident Accused Station Master Arrested

According to the reports, Amir Khan is signal JE and he was working under the Soro section. He was residing with his family at a rented house which has now been sealed. The Central Bureau of Investigation interrogated Signal JE during the course of the investigation at a private location. The CBI left the accident scene in Balasore on June 16 after the investigation. But on Monday, the team suddenly came back to Balasore and sealed Amir Khan’s rented house. After sealing Amir Khan’s residence, CBI arrived at Bahanaga Sation Master’s residence located in Tentei Chhak under Soro Block for further questioning into the Balasore train accident. While CBI already had registered a case in connection with the Balasore train accident on June 2, 2023, Friday. Reportedly, this case was registered after the Railway Ministry and the Odisha Government requested the CBI to probe into the case. In addition, the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) also ordered the CBI to initiate an intensive investigation after the train mishap involving Yashwantpur-Howrah Express, a goods train, and Coromandel Express at Bahanaga Bazar.

Rinkesh Roy who is the Khordha Road DRM earlier suspected that physical tampering or Sabotage could be behind the crash. He said, “There was a green signal on the main line. The signal is usually green when all the pre-conditions required for the signal to go green are perfect. If any of the pre-conditions are not fulfilled, the signal can never turn green unless and until anyone physically tampers with the signal system. But, the data records, show that when Coromandel Express was reaching the station, the signal was green, but the train moved to the loop line,”
