If you were hoping to buy the catalytic converter that James Kertz had for sale on the interweb, it’s no longer on the market. Not because it’s hot or anything but because of something in the background of the product photo which caught the attention of a Sheriff’s Office in Missouri. The online merchant was arrested for his felonious stupidity.
Photo says it all
“Take note, if you are selling items on social media, make sure your drugs are not in the background!” Stone County Sheriff Doug Rader warns. The online auto part dealer later told police he never even noticed what was in the photo when he posted his ad. Rader’s office got a tip when a sharp eyed potential customer noticed “a “large bag of meth and syringe” on the table behind the catalytic converter.” The following morning, September 29, “detectives went to the man’s home and served a search warrant.”
A new place to stay
The Sheriff was chuckling as he posted “you can imagine his surprise!! He still had 48 grams of meth and a pistol that he is forbidden to own! We have now provided him a new place to stay.” A little later on, they identified the man who posted the photo as 38-year-old James Kertz.
The suspect’s booking photo is now making the rounds as he’s being held “on suspicion of drug-related offenses.” He’s now in Stone County jail without bond “on a charge of possessing a controlled substance.” Along with that, “he has prior convictions for resisting arrest, domestic assault, possession of a controlled substance and endangering the welfare of a child.”
