Now that Netflix has finally jumped into producing Japanese original shows, fans of J-dramas can expect a lot more interesting stories coming from the streaming platform. After the success of Alice in Borderland, Netflix has now announced another Japanese mini-series based on an interesting plot for fans to look forward to.
The newest Netflix Original, Burn The House Down, is based on the 2017 manga Mitarai ke, Enjou Suru written by Moyashi Fujisawa. As the first season of Burn The House Down has finally ended, there is one lingering question that many fans have after watching the finale – has this been renewed?

What is Burn The House Down about?
The show follows the story of the wealthy Mitarai family who have run a hospital for generations. The series follows the mystery of arson where the Mitarai family house burns down.
Specifically, the series centers on the story of Anzu, a young girl who returns to her family home after her father divorced her mother. Anzu knows that her mother was framed for setting fire to the family house when it was not her fault.
Upon returning, Anzu pretends to be Shizuka, the house help for the Mitarai family and Mr Mitarai’s new wife – Makiko who seems to have something to do with the house burning down 13 years ago.

Will there be a Season 2 of Burn The House Down?
At the time of writing, Netflix has not renewed Burn The House Down for a second season. Given the nature of this series, that could change if it does good numbers for the streamers.
Generally, networks and streaming platforms gauge numerous metrics before renewing a show, including how many people initially watch it and then looking at the drop-off rate. With some shows, cancellations or renewals happen quickly, other times, it can take months before a network makes a decision over a show’s future.
So far, Burn The House Down has had a pretty positive reaction from audiences and critics alike with steady ratings for a web drama. With all that considered, we predict that Netflix will not renew Burn The House Down for a follow-up season. With the way the season ended, we can be sure that the Japanese drama will not be renewed, given the whole story is basically wrapped up now.
Now, that is not the only deciding factor here since streamers tend to renew shows even if they end on a conclusive note. TV networks and streaming giants have renewed shows on the basis of the popularity of their initial seasons. What we know about Burn The House Down Season 2 so far:
Most Japanese dramas are reserved for one season, and with the rare exception of ongoing Netflix shows (Alice in Borderland etc.) then it seems unlikely that this one will be renewed.
However, there is always the possibility that the actors return for a spin-off of some description featuring the same characters. But based on everything we’ve seen, Burn The House Down will probably not be renewed.
