In episode 3 of Survival of the Thickest, Mavis is ecstatic and draws motivation from her recent major achievement as she explores further in the field of styling. One of the many entertainers at CC Blooms suffers a wardrobe issue during the performance. Her attire had been created by Mavis.
In order to keep the spectacle going, Mavis employs her cleverness to approach a stranger and request for his tie. Her expertise and audacious attitude greatly impress Luca, whose tie Mavis borrowed. She is approached by him and she is asked out. They head to Mavis’s flat after dinner. In the cab, she gives him a blowjob. That said, she has gum in her mouth, and it sticks to Lucas’ pubes.
Mavis leaves Luca with her roommate when she gets home. She dashes out to the grocery store to buy some peanut butter to remove the gum. She struggles to remove the gum from his pubic area but eventually succeeds. Luca always knows the right thing to say. Mavis is left thrilled by him. Before he takes off for Rome, they end up spending the night together.
The primary focus of episode 3 of Survival of the Thickest is Mavis and Luca’s first encounter and their newly formed connection. This episode tells their story, starting with Luca being surprised by her abilities, moving on to them having a minor gum accident, followed by them spending the night together.
You can’t help but notice how disconnected from reality this show is, living in its own little bubble. It’s just too unrealistic for the show to try to make even the simplest things, like fixing your own error, magical. The episode also establishes Mavis and Luca’s connection. Even though their relationship is far too superficial and fairytale-like, it is probably the only decent development in the show so far.
